I have only been by one incident when police were actively engaged in policing and they have - in comparison with N.Am. standards - been very restrained. But if one blocks a road and one yells oink oink don't expect the police to invite you to a sunday tea.
Just a clarification - this story "facing global conflict" is not talking about the campus protests, but about a motion at UBC Senate. To assume that this speaks to any of the protests takes license with my words beyond their intention and meaning.
